Santa Claus is Coming to Town AND your Computer Screen!

November 27, 2020

One of the greatest Christmas Traditions is the infamous picture with Santa. You never know if your kid is going to be scared, excited, or just downright uninterested, but it is still a memory every parent will look back on and appreciate. I am sure many parents are fearful that they may not have a picture during the year of 2020 because of COVID, but Christmas Miracles happen the entire month of December, and this year you have multiple places and ways to get your picture with Santa.

The first stop on Santa’s list is Bass Pro Shops where he will be until December 24th. All meeting times are by reservation only and on top of normal COVID protocols, they also have a “Magic Santa Shield” that allows for safety between Santa and the children.

Santa’s next stop is going to be the Galleria Mall where they offer both virtual meetings and in-person meetings. Until December 14th, it will be Thursday – Sundays from 12 p.m. – 6 p.m. Then starting December 15th, it is every day from 12 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. No reservations are required for the in-person visit.

Santa will also be available at Town Square until December 23rd with reservation-only visits with Santa. There are also going to be Snow Days in the Square Monday – Thursday from 7 p.m. – 8 p.m.

And finally, Santa’s last stop before he heads back to the North Pole will be at the Green Valley District where he will be available virtually through reservation only. Santa will be available here until December 24th from 12 p.m. – 6 p.m. Do be warned, there is a $25 fee associated with this visit.

Here at McKenna Property Management the safety of our tenants is one of our top priorities, and we are proud to be part of a community that not only stays safe, but also tries their best to keep the memories of the holidays intact. Make sure to reserve now before all the spots are taken up, and make sure to listen in when your kid tells Santa what they want.

We’re sure you’ve heard about Punxsutawney Phil of Pennsylvania, but did you know Nevada has its own unique way of signaling the arrival of spring in the desert? His name is Mojave Max! Mojave Max, a tortoise residing at the Springs Preserve in Las Vegas, acts as a local mascot for the desert tortoise conservation program. Katrina Smith, the Senior Zoologist at the preserve, explains that Mojave Max's emergence is rooted in biology rather than folklore. Unlike a rodent seeing its shadow, which holds no real significance, the emergence of a desert tortoise is a biological event. For Max, the temperature inside his burrow must reach a certain threshold before he becomes active. This signals the warming weather, the blooming of flowers, and the increase in wildlife activity. When he emerges, it marks the official arrival of spring! Over the past two years, Max has emerged in late March, and his return has become a highly anticipated event. For over 25 years, local elementary students have been participating in the Mojave Max Emergence Contest, guessing the date of his big appearance. Mojave Max's emergence serves as a reminder that spring in the desert is not just a season, but a living, breathing change in the environment that calls for our attention and care!
